a cic is a limited company, with special additional features, created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. the map cic is a non-profit organisation and directors do not receive a salary, dividends or expenses. map cic articles of association map cic 2013/14 accounts meet the map cic team the directors and advisor's give their time on a voluntary basis. meetings are attended by representatives of the town council and district council who are encouraged to take an active role within the team if they wish to. graham parkhurst director • chairman & finance educated in london and later taking an hnc in business studies, graham moved to mablethorpe over 20 years ago to start a new life. graham became involved with various groups around town as a volunteer including the mablethorpe carnival committee. he started his own business in 2004 as a database programmer and later became a town councillor. he was appointed to the mablethorpe area partnership as the town council’s liaison representative and after the first year remained on the board, representing mablethorpe in bloom. karen froggatt secretary karen was employed as our town centre manager in 2009 and has established some excellent relationships with local businesses and the local authorities, as well as good local knowledge of the area. prior to this, karen worked for many years in a management capacity in the tourism industry both abroad and in the uk, both as an operations manager and a commercial manager. she is also very experienced in event organisations, project implementation and delivery, marketing and funding bids. john handley director • project development born and bred in the county, john’s business career spans more than 50 years in and around the mablethorpe area, primarily in the retail motor trade and wholesale distribution. a founder member of the mablethorpe area partnership board and past chairman of mascot (mablethorpe and sutton chamber of trade, now amalgamated within our new structure) john is anxious to ensure the community’s business interests are fully represented. ambitious for the economic growth of our towns, john maintains an active interest in local affairs and is keen to see map achieve its full potential. keith butters director • website management keith is lincolnshire born and bred and originates from a farming family. he still has a keen interest in farming and is a member of the nfu. keith is the lead developer in bowhunter websites which is his current major business interest. keith works with many businesses, associations and clubs to market their goods and services. he has been an active member of mascot and the mablethorpe tourism forum and has been involved in organising the bathing beauties festival since its inception in 2007. helen matthews district council representative helen has lived in lincolnshire for most of her life, for the last 20 years on the coast, and is a district councillor for sutton on sea. helen is a local tourism provider with experience in hospitality and event management. she has been an active volunteer in the community and instrumental in attracting the funding and setting up some of our events. with a degree in fine art and visual culture and a background in managing projects working with families in area of social deprivation helen brings a wealth of experience to the team. helen parkhurst town council representative cllr helen parkhurst has lived in the parish now for over 20 years and always been involved with local groups in our community. helen currently works in mablethorpe library and has been appointed to the map cic board as the town councils representative. adrian benjamin community liaison adrian grew up in sutton but left for oxford having won a scholarship. he worked in the theatre before being trained for the priesthood eventually becoming the vicar of all saints' friern barnet for 37 years. at this time adrian was also involved in the local primary and secondary schools and arts centre whilst also being the religious affairs editor for itv teletext. after retiring to sutton, adrian was elected chair of the sutton-on-sea residents association, secretary of the louth and horncastle conservative association and the chair of the boatshed charity management committee. jim needley legal advisor jim joined john barkers as a delivery boy in 1962 and went on to become a qualified solicitor in 1971 after time at the college of law guildford. he also became a partner in 1971 taking over the running of the louth and mablethorpe offices specialising in property probate and inheritance tax but in the early years also attended the local courts at louth, alford and spilsby. jim spends saturday nights helping at a soup kitchen and visits southern india to support tribal children once a year. paul dobbs financial advisor information to follow. what does the map cic do?
